sarawakSarawak -  Situated on the northwestern coast of Borneo, the land of hornbills, intricate rivers and pepper beckons the visitor with its rich rain forests and the diverse lifestyles of its indigenous people.  Sarawak shares its boundaries with Kalimantan in the south, Brunei and Sabah in the north. Sarawak is Malaysia's largest state, covering an area of 124.450sq km and is divided into nine Divisions with the city of Kuching as its capital.  Two-thirds of its land is under rain forest and its population of 1.7 million is made up of 23 ethnic groups Sarawak is best known for its natural and cultural wonders. The hornbill, a protected bird, is the state emblem.

Sarawak is a tropical state with an equatorial climate. It is hot and humid throughout the year with average daily temperature ranging from 23°c during the early hours of the morning to 32°c during the day. It experiences two monsoonal changes. The North East Monsoon, which usually occurs between November to February, brings with it heavy rainfall. The South West Monsoon from June to October is usually milder. Despite our monsoon seasons, the climate in Sarawak remains fairly stable throughout the year. Annual rainfall varies between 330 cm to 460 cm for the greater part of the country.
